Class of 2025, esteemed faculty, proud families, and cherished friends, welcome! And to the graduates, a heartfelt congratulations to all of you!
Today, I stand before you with deep honor, not just because it’s a privilege to address such an accomplished group, but because this moment gives me a chance to share some thoughts I wish I’d heard when I was in your shoes.
As you prepare to take the next step in your journey, I want to offer you a simple truth: It’s okay not to have everything figured out right now.
There’s so much pressure on us to have a clear vision for our future, to know exactly what we’re meant to do, but the truth is, life doesn’t work in a straight line. In fact, life is gloriously, messily circular.
You will change. You will evolve. You will discover new passions, new desires, and new goals that may look very different from the ones you have today. And that’s okay. You don’t need to know it all right now. Give yourself permission to evolve and embrace new directions as they come.
And remember this: It’s okay to change your mind. Over and over again. Life will present you with new opportunities, new challenges, and new insights. You will grow. And with growth comes the possibility of redefining your path. Don’t be afraid of that change. It’s not a setback—it’s a part of the process. Every time you pivot, you learn something valuable about yourself. You get closer to who you’re meant to be. Trust the journey, even when it takes unexpected turns.
Another truth I want to share with you: Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it’s a strength. The world will tell you that you have to have it all together, that you need to be self-sufficient, that asking for help somehow means you’re falling behind. But that’s not true. Real strength is in recognizing that you don’t have to do it alone. Whether it’s a mentor, a friend, or a colleague, leaning on others will make you stronger. So, don’t hesitate to ask for guidance. Don't hesitate to ask for support. You’re not meant to carry the weight of the world by yourself.
And perhaps most importantly: Your value is not tied to your productivity. We live in a culture that glorifies the hustle… always pushing, always striving, always measuring success by how much we do. But here’s the truth: you are worthy not because of what you accomplish*, but because of who you are. Your worth is inherent. It’s not tied to your job, your title, or the speed at which you “achieve.” So give yourself grace. Take time to rest. Take time to reflect. Your value isn’t measured by your output—it’s measured by your heart, your compassion, your integrity.
Class of 2025, the world you are stepping into is not perfect, and it will not always be easy. But it will be yours to shape. You have the tools you need within you: curiosity, resilience, the ability to adapt. You’ve been preparing for this moment for years, but more importantly, you’ve been preparing for a lifetime.
So, as you take the next step, remember this: You don’t need to have everything figured out. It’s okay to not have all the answers. Give yourself room to grow, to change, and to fail. Trust yourself. And always remember that you are enough, just as you are. You have everything you need to make your mark on this world.
Congratulations, Class of 2025. The world is waiting for you, and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
Thank you.
